Getting ready for your upcoming mini session? Choosing the right outfits can make a world of difference in your photos! Here are some essential tips to help you select the perfect attire for our Creek and Sunflower Mini Sessions.
For our mini sessions, I recommend a "dressy casual" style. Think flowy dresses, cute shorts, lace tops, pretty blouses, and stylish button-downs for men. Whimsical styles can also add a delightful touch to your session!
When it comes to colors for the creek and sunflower sessions, opt for soft and natural tones like white, blue, green, cream, and pink. It's best to avoid yellow in the sunflower fields and steer clear of heavily patterned clothing, particularly floral patterns.
While some patterns can work, I recommend avoiding super busy prints. Subtle stripes are usually fine, but heavily patterned clothing may distract from the essence of the moment.
Layering is a fantastic way to add variety to your look! Consider bringing along cardigans, jean jackets, or vests. Just make sure to choose lighter materials so you stay comfortable throughout the session.
In the summertime, comfort is key! Choose flowy dresses, cool fabrics, and shorts to keep everyone feeling great. Always try on outfits beforehand, especially for kids, to ensure they're comfortable and mobile during the shoot.
Footwear should be practical for the environment. For the creek mini sessions, waterproof sandals are a must, and you can even go barefoot in the water! While we may not focus on feet in most sunflower mini photos, having a nice pair of shoes is still important for a couple of shots.
Hats make excellent accessories, adding charm to your outfit—just be mindful that they don’t cover your eyes too much! Keep accessories to a minimum to maintain focus on the beautiful moments we’ll capture.
The night before your session, take time to wash, iron, or steam your clothes. Lay everything out flat or hang it up. A lint roller can also come in handy to remove any pet hair that may be lurking!
